The Institute for Global Success (IGS) marked a significant milestone as it participated in a key international meeting held at Marina Bay, Singapore, in preparation for launching the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) in the Maldives for the first time this year.
The meeting brought together the WRO Board and national organizers from 17 countries, including Singapore, Cambodia, China, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Maldives, Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand, and the United States. The agenda focused on strategies to improve and expand the reach of WRO globally, while also sharing best practices for organizing impactful national competitions.
IGS, now officially the national organizer for WRO in the Maldives, described the meeting as incredibly valuable, offering deep insights into international standards, logistics, and educational tools necessary for a successful debut. Attendees also had the opportunity to engage with leading STEM education providers who showcased their latest innovations designed to support robotics-based learning.
“This meeting was an eye-opening experience,” said IGS CEO Rifath Mohamed. “It gave us a solid foundation and the right connections to bring WRO to the Maldives in the best way possible. We’re excited to inspire our youth and create a platform for them to explore robotics and STEM education on a global level.”
The World Robot Olympiad 2025 is set to take place in over 100 countries, culminating in the international final from November 26–28 at Marina Bay, Singapore. With the Maldives now joining this prestigious event, IGS aims to open new doors for students across the nation to develop skills in innovation, critical thinking, and collaboration.
The upcoming launch of WRO in the Maldives is expected to spark new interest in STEM education and provide students with a world-class opportunity to showcase their talent on an international stage.
